the World
The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom and liberty all over the world. Although most visit New York Harbor to behold the 305-foot monument, there are hundreds of replicas across the globe. In celebration of Lady Liberty’s 136th birthday, we’re giving a shoutout to just a few.

In NYC...
The original colossal isn’t the only Lady Liberty in the Big Apple. In the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “European Decorative Arts & Sculpture, 1850-1900 gallery you’ll find one of the replicas sold to finance the Statue of Liberty project in the 1880s.
Originally featured atop the Liberty Storage Warehouse on 64th Street in Manhattan, this 47-foot-high copy now stands outside the Brooklyn Museum.
Since 2011, an original replica is on public display outside 667 Madison Avenue.
Across the U.S...
In 2021, the French gifted another Statue of Liberty to the U.S. On loan from France’s National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts, the 10-foot replica left its home in Paris, sailed to NY passing her “big sister” and visiting Ellis Island, and until 2031 is on display at the French Ambassador’s Residence in Washington, D.C.
From 1949-1952, Boy Scout troops donated 100-inch replicas to communities around the country as part of its “Strengthen the Arm of Liberty” was a project.
In Las Vegas, a half-size replica welcomes guests to the New York-New York Hotel & Casino.
Throughout France...
Paris is home to at least 12 replicas. Perhaps the most notable is the statue on the manmade Île aux Cygnes (Swan Island) on the Seine. A short distance away is the Eiffel Tower. Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel designed the statue’s interior.
For all things Lady Liberty, visit the Bartholdi Museum located in the sculpture’s birthplace of Colmar, France.
One of Bartholdi’s first models can be found overlooking the Mediterranean Sean on the Quai des Etats-Unis (the promenade of the United States) in Nice, France.
Around the world...
Similar to the original, a replica located in Tokyo Bay represents the relationship between France and Japan. It is about 1/7th the size of the statue in New York Harbor and was erected in 1998.
The original Legoland in Billund, Denmark, as well as other Lego theme parks, is home to a replica made from 400,000 Lego bricks!
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – This 9-foot-high replica was commissioned around 1900 and is located in the city’s Vila Kennedy neighborhood.
